How Youtube Is Changing the Future of Video

Research Project Proposal:

Youtube has been around as a video hosting service for the last 12 years. Throughout that time it has completely changed the way videos are received. It has become arguably the number one online source of videos for people browsing the internet. Youtube is changing how videos will be consumed by viewers. It has started to offer television programs from different broadcasters recently and also has been creating its own original content. My research will go into discovering how Youtube is changing the way videos are viewed. It will look into how Youtube is competing with other online platforms such as Netflix and Hulu and also with TV broadcasters that are starting to push content to their online websites as well as continuing to show them on regular TV. My research approach will try to dissect what Youtube is doing to differentiate itself from the other video platforms and regular broadcast television; and also how it is pushing to change how videos are consumed by people around the world.

    Hello Mobeen,

    I wish I could start using YouTube to learn much earlier. YouTube's public gathering power is enormous, and I personally like to watch a YouTube video for things or stuff which I'm curious about, or it could be something that I am interested in learning.

There are many different types of new media being developed everyday and rolling out to consumers. A new type of media that I would suggest is a online way of voting. Currently you have to go to a polling center and physically vote somewhere, you cannot do it from the comfort of your cell phone, tablet or computer. Privacy

Privacy is a concern for everyone and especially nowadays with new media. New media reveals a lot of personal information about the individual using the platform. Media such as Facebook has a user input their hometown, full name, birth date, school, occupation, etc. to populate their profile and to make it visible to their friends. The first level of privacy comes with Facebook having this information on their end in their servers, if they ever got hacked then this info could become public. Secondly this information can be public on a person's public Facebook profile. Anyone can type in a person's name and basically find where they live and work, this can cause people to stalk other people and even break into their homes. Twitter

Twitter is a very strong social media platform and is considered one of the top sites. It is a place for a live discussion and meant to spread ideas across the world. Usually there is a live and in the moment back and forth between multiple people on the platform. People from one part of the world can find out about something happening at that exact moment that it is happening through Twitter. A Twitter discussion is different than a Blackboard discussion. Twitter is a live discussion that gives you notifications when someone responds to your post. On Blackboard you can make a post and someone can comment and reply to it but you don't get a notification that someone has done that and it is not a live conversation.
